The
following information provides all the Connected system
requirements for both Macintosh and Windows platforms.
The information includes recommended network configurations
and compatible third party applications.
Mac OS Min Sys. Requirements for Version
6
190 MB of free hard disk space, 1 GB RAM,
G4 or greater processor, OS 10.4 or greater. Screen resolution
of 1280x900 or greater.
Mac OS Min Sys. Requirements for Version
5.3 to 5.x
150 MB of free hard disk space, 512 MB RAM, G4 1 Ghz
or greater processor, OS 10.4 or greater. Screen resolution
of 1024x768.
NOTE: Reveiw the server software/network configurations,
listed below in the "Recommended Server/Network Configurations"
section, for sites with multiple concurrent users.
Windows System Requirements Version 6.x
150MB of free hard disk space, 512MB RAM, Pentium III
or greater processor, Windows XP Professional or Vista
Professional. Screen resolution of 1280x900 or greater.
Windows Vista Users: Contact the Connected Support

to receive program installation instructions specific
to Windows Vista.
Windows System Requirements Version 5.x
80MB
of free hard disk space, 512MB RAM, Pentium III or greater
processor, Windows 2000 or XP Professional. Screen
resolution of 1024x768 or greater.

Connected
Server/Network Configurations
The following section outlines the required
server/network configurations based on the platform/client
operating system that is accessing the Connected data
file. NOTE: Ethernet is recommended for
all multi-user versions of Connected. Although wireless
networking options are available, they are not recommended.
Macintosh
Clients with a Macintosh Server
2-3 Users: Dedicated
Mac OS 10.4 to server data. All connections to server
made via AFP, not SMB.
4+ Users: Dedicated Mac OS 10.4 (or greater) or
10.4 Server (or greater) to serve data. Install and use
the Connected ODB server software on server which uses
and IP address to connect to data file.
Windows
Clients with a Windows Server

Users: Dedicated Windows XP Professional computer
to serve data.
6+ Users: Dedicated Windows 2000 or 2003 server
NOTE: Write caching should be turned OFF on the
Windows computer serving the data.
Macintosh
and Windows Clients with a Macintosh Server
2+
Users: Dedicated Mac OS 10.4 (or greater) or 10.4
Server (or greater) to serve data. Install and use the
Connected ODB server software on server which uses and
IP address to connect to data file.
Macintosh
and Windows Clients with a Windows Server
2+
Users: Dedicated Windows 2000 or 2003 server with
Macintosh Services installed
NOTE: Write caching should be turned OFF on the
Windows computer serving the data.
NOTE:
A dedicated file server is required for all multi-user
versions of Connected on Mac OS. Mac OS multi-user versions
can have access to the Connected ODB server software.
